What is Karma
Many people think karma simply means being punished for something they did wrong in a past life. While, at times, it may feel that way, karma simply means action. In many ways, karma is simply the law of cause and effect applied to our lives. The choices we make today help create the circumstances we experience tomorrow. Over time, those choices become patterns, and those patterns become our karma.
The choices we make, the beliefs we hold, and the habits we develop all influence the experiences we create. Over time, these experiences form patterns. Some patterns support our growth, while others keep us stuck repeating the same lessons.
When we become aware of these cycles, we can learn the lessons they offer instead of repeating them. Each lesson learned moves us closer to Moksha, which I like to compare to heaven in the West, though it is more accurately described as liberation from the cycle of karma and rebirth.
When these patterns remain unconscious, we often find ourselves facing the same challenges again and again. We may blame other people, bad luck, or our circumstances. When our circumstances are a result of our own action, or inaction. Jyotish helps bring these patterns into the light so that we can respond to them differently.
